Taking care of my teeth

Yesterday I endured a visit the dentist, my fourth this year, after many years of not attending. Don’t get me wrong I’ve used an electric toothbrush, floss and mouthwash, but I just had not been visiting the dentist.

I hope I’ve not given you a mental picture of dodgy teeth, because my teeth are not, but they did require the attention of a dentist, even if I wouldn’t admit it for a long time. My first fillings (which I had this year), were long overdue, and I definitely wish I had gone earlier.

I don’t have a sweet tooth and for a long time didn’t have sensitive teeth, but I should have been attending, and one fateful day earlier this year the worse happened, and an emergency trip was required. The service I received for the cheap NHS fee was incredible, but obviously the stress of the experience was too much. Without doubt if I had been visiting sooner, the emergency probably wouldn’t of occurred and if a visit was required, it would have been a less stressful process.

So with renewed effort I phoned around after the emergency appointment, and a couple of months later I was taken in by a local dentist, and I’ve received further incredible treatment. Now my teeth have gotten the extra care and attention they deserve, with visits now being spaced out to a normal level.

I don’t have much money, and it wasn’t a case that I was spending available funds on social activities, good food or luxuries, as I wasn’t. For my health, I should have been visiting though.

I was self neglecting my health by not visiting a dentist, and I’m glad I did something about it this year.
