How I lost two stone

I’ve already lost two stone in weight this year. This blog post covers how I lost the weight.

You might be happy to know there isn’t a secret formula, it was mainly down to exercise as well as eating and drinking sensibly. I write ‘mainly’, as it appears I lost some of the weight down to illness and stress! Not good, but I don’t plan on putting that weight back on!

It helps that I rarely drink alcohol, don’t eat eggs and that I am vegetarian. During that period I rarely snacked, drunk enough water and meal planned, which also helped with the food costs.

The exercise was not a gym, but plenty of walking. I was regularly going for walks, and occasionally spending many hours at a time outdoors, not just walking, but just enjoying a day out, including plenty of rest breaks or hours writing at lovely locations. I always made sure I had water on me, and in one area where I walk, there are even free water taps! If out for the day, I made sure I had plenty of food, as starving myself was not the plan, but eating sensibly was.

The combination resulted in the weight loss. Even during the period where I didn’t lose weight, I was still walking more than the average person, but the food intake was out of balance, something which I am not focusing on again.

I’m a long way off my target weight, but even though the journey is going to be tough, and this is only the beginning, just being on the journey is important. I’m losing weight for health reasons, and I feel good about taking action.

I’m working on improving many areas of my life, not just weight loss, and all my efforts will hopefully contribute to a better all round quality of life. I’m not looking for a quick fix, and will be making adjustments along the way to work towards this goal, some of which I will blog about here.
